Accenture Federal Services in Arlington has been awarded a $24.4 million contract to help the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) modernize its financial system.

The NSF manages about 20 percent of all federally supported research conducted by the nation’s colleges and universities.

Accenture will work with NSF to modernize current operations by transitioning the agency to a cloud-based financial system.

Last year, NSF managed and dispersed $5.72 billion for research and related activities.

Accenture Federal Services is a subsidiary of Dublin-based Accenture plc, a management consulting, technology services and outsourcing company.
