18 Virginia companies make list of top 500 Hispanic-owned businesses
- July 6, 2009
Eighteen Virginia-based companies made this year’s list of the Top 500 owned Hispanic businesses in the U.S.
The 27th annual list, compiled by Hispanic Business magazine, is viewed as an indicator of the health of Hispanic businesses, because of the snapshots of company revenue, number of employees and previous rankings.
For instance an Arlington-based IT and business consulting firm, Engineering Services Network Inc., moved up into the top tier this year. With $26.4 million in annual revenue, the company came in at No. 199 — up from 238 in 2008 — to join the top 200 companies.
Founded in 1995, small, veteran-owned ESN specializes in military and government contracts and is dedicated to employing veterans. “ESN is especially proud to be among the top 200 largest Hispanic-owned companies in the country during these economic times,” said ESN CEO and President Raymond F. Lopez Jr. The company employs 175 people.
Virginia’s top-ranked Hispanic firm, coming in at No. 37, was The Centech Group Inc., also of Arlington. The technical and IT services company employs 400 and has annual revenue of $163 million. This year’s No. 1 company, for the second year running, was Brightstar Corp. of Miami with $3.5 billion in revenue and 2,100 employees.
