Big-city amenities in a small-city setting
Situated on the eastern edge of the Virginia Peninsula and just a short drive to Virginia Beach and the Historic Triangle, Newport News is an ideal meeting location. Our full-service hotels can easily accommodate small to mid-size conferences, meetings and reunions, while our special venues will take your meeting out of the ordinary. Our “hi-tech” hometown is headquarters for more than 20 international firms and two national laboratories and offers excellent transportation access via car, train and plane.
Newport News also offers a fun and rewarding pre- or post-meeting experience. Our nationally-known museums celebrate nature, the sea and our nation’s military heritage and our 8,000-acre park is perfect for teambuilding. A lively entertainment calendar and hundreds of shopping and dining choices, including specialty stores and chef-owned restaurants, complete the picture.

The Newport News Tourism Development Office has a Convention Services Program available to meeting planners. Among the many complimentary services offered are welcome bags, name badges, promotional materials and a coupon book filled with discounts and free coupons for city restaurants, services, attractions and amenities. A personal welcome and greeting from city leaders and tourism professionals can also be arranged.

We also offer a complimentary welcome table during registration, staffed by one of the Newport News Visitor Center travel counselors. They can provide attendees with suggestions and advice on local attractions, amenities, services and directions, or simply answer questions.

Free meeting planner publications include a Group Planner, with comprehensive information on accommodations, amenities, attractions, area history, traditional meeting facilities and special venues, transportation, dining, shopping and group services. Also available are our popular Meeting Planners Checklist and Site Inspection Handbook.
