Sharp joins board of Star Scientific
March 17, 2011 10:58 AMRichard L. Sharp, a former CEO of Circuit City Stores and CarMax, has been elected to the board of Star Scientific Inc.
Sharp currently is chairman of Crocs and serves on the boards of Johns Hopkins University, the University of Virginia School of Medicine and the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Engineering Foundation.
Leo S. Tonkin, the longest serving board member at Star Scientific, is retiring.
Star Scientific, headquartered in Glen Allen, is a tobacco company focused on developing products with lower levels of carcinogens.
