Mel D. Schiavelli has been named executive vice president for academic and student services at Northern Virginia Community College.
His appointment takes effect on July 1.
Schiavelli has been president and CEO of Harrisburg University of Science and Technology in Pennsylvania since 2002.
He is a charter member of the Manufacturing Institute’s Educational Council. The institute is the research, educational and work force arm of the National Association of Manufacturers.
