George C. Howell, a partner in the Richmond office of Hunton & Williams LLP, has been named chair of the American College of Tax Counsel, a nonprofit professional association of tax lawyers recognized for their contributions and commitment to the profession.
Howell, who heads the firm’s tax and ERISA group, focuses his practice on the tax aspects of real estate investment trusts, securitizations, master limited partnerships, private investment funds, and other financial products and transactions.
The American College of Tax Counsel is composed of about 700 fellows chosen by their peers, and is governed by a Board of Regents consisting of one Regent from each federal judicial circuit and two Regents at large.
