General Dynamics has acquired Metro Machine Corp., a Norfolk-based surface ship repair company.
The company supports the U.S. Navy fleet that is based in Norfolk.
The value of the cash transaction was not released.
Metro Machine will become part of the shipbuilding and repair operations of General Dynamics subsidiary, NASSCO, which is based in San Diego.
“The addition of Metro Machine enhances our ability to compete in the growing naval ship repair market,“ Fred Harris, president of General Dynamics NASSCO, said in a statement.
