Former Burke & Herbert Bank chairman joins rival bank
- September 4, 2012
The retired chairman and CEO of the Burke & Herbert Bank, Charles “Charlie” K. Collum, Jr., has joined John Marshall Bank’s Alexandria office as an executive officer.
“To say I am delighted to have Charlie join our bank team in Alexandria is an understatement” John Maxwell, John Marshall Bank’s chairman and CEO, said in a statement. “Charlie’s 50-plus years serving the Alexandria community as a banker, his reputation as a man of integrity and his popularity throughout Alexandria makes this a perfect partnership as we steadily increase our presence in the Alexandria business community.”
Reston-based John Marshall Bank, begun in 2006, has five branches, a loan production office in Alexandria and one in the District of Columbia.
Collum joined Burke & Herbert in 1971. He became chairman in 2003 and retired in 2010. Collum was only the second chairman of the bank who was not a member of the Burke family. Burke & Herbert was founded in 1852.
Collum was named the “2009 Business Leader of the Year” by the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce.
He will join two other former Burke & Herbert colleagues, Eric Dorn and Pam DeCandio, at John Marshall Bank.
