Virginia Port Authority Executive Director Jerry Bridges was elected to serve as chairman of board for the American Association of Port Authorities for 2011-12.
“I’ve been in this business a long time and AAPA has always been a mainstay, an unvarnished voice for the industry and I am flattered to have been elected as chairman of its board,“
Bridges said in a statement. “I look forward to next year, to working with the board and finding ways to continue the good work AAPA has done for this industry.“
Bridges will start his one-year term on Sept. 15, the last day of the association’s annual convention.
Bridges has been executive director of the VPA since 2006 after leading the Port of Oakland.
