Freddie Mac paid $4.65 million
to settle a suit brought on behalf of past and current
employees whose 401(k) retirement plans were hurt after
the company's stock price dropped following disclosure
of billions of dollars of accounting errors. The settlement
closes a Labor Department investigation of the company's
401(k) plan, but its accounting practices remain under
scrutiny from the Securities and Exchange Commission. (The Washington Post)
