MediCorp begins building
new hospital in Stafford County
Construction has begun on MediCorp Health System's new
Stafford campus. The Stafford Hospital Center will be
home to a 100-bed acute care hospital, imaging center
and medical office space. The facility is on 72-acres
at the corner of Routes 1 and 630, not far from Interstate
I-95. The hospital is scheduled to open in 2009. Fredericksburg-based
MediCorp is the parent company of Mary Washington Hospital.
Lake Taylor expands
its rehabilitation center
Lake Taylor Transitional Care Hospital in Norfolk has
expanded and renovated its rehabilitation center. The
5,500 square foot facility includes weight and strength
training equipment, individual work stations and cable
television for patients to view during their therapy.
Carilion chooses new name
as it reorganizes into clinic
Carilion Clinic is the new name chosen for Roanoke-based
Carilion Health System as it reorganizes into a nonprofit,
multispecialty clinic. The organization's existing board
of trustees will join a new board of governors to manage
the clinic. Of the 11 managing board members, eight will
be physicians, with the rest representing nursing and
administration.
