Holston Medical Group, a
Kingsport,
Tenn. multi-physician practice, plans to invest $3
million to open a medical records data center in
Scott
County, which will create 40 jobs. The operation, which
will also feature a facility for diagnostic services,
will digitally store medical records of patients for
numerous private practices and hospitals in Northeast
Tennessee and
Southwest Virginia. (News release)
Swedwood North
America, a furniture-manufacturing subsidiary
of IKEA, will build its first North American
manufacturing operation in an industrial park developed
by
Pittsylvania
County and
Danville. The facility will produce furniture for IKEA’s
home furnishing stores. The first of three phases of
operation will open in 2007, and eventually will employ
740 people. (News

U.S. Components LLC, a manufacturer of roof,
floor and wall trusses will open a manufacturing facility
in
West Point. The $6.4 million investment will create
104 jobs.

Water World Fiberglass Pools, N.E. Inc., will
invest $3 million to open a facility in
Buckingham
County
Industrial Park, creating 100 jobs. The company will
manufacture fiberglass swimming pools and an addition
50 seasonal employees will be employed during the busy
season.
Virginia competed with
