GuideStar, a Williamsburg-based
provider of information about nonprofit organizations,
launched LibraryServices@GuideStar,
a service for academic and public libraries through
which patrons can search GuideStar's database of 1.5
million organizations. A number of fields can be searched
and sorted, and the information
includes access to forms filed with the IRS. (News

Virginia Commonwealth University scientists
developed a material which can be used as vascular
grafts for surgical patients. The material, a blend
of polydioxanone and elastin fibers,
reinforces the graft's strength and helps maintain
proper blood pressure. (News release)
