Plateau Systems lands major airline training contract

Virginia Business
December 2005

Singapore Airlines may be facing rising fuel costs and a global fare war, but that has not stopped it from spending money to keep its 29,000 employees up-to-date on their skills. The airline recently began using a Web-based program developed by Arlington-based Plateau Systems to bolster training for pilots, flight attendants, mechanics and reservation personnel based in 40 countries. Among the coursework: aircraft engine repair, safety procedures and reservation systems training.

Singapore Airlines, which spends more than $100 million annually on training, evaluated a number of software programs. It ultimately chose Plateau because of the deep functionality of its products and its record for being used by large complex organizations, including the Internal Revenue Service, General Electric, Wendy’s International and The American Red Cross.

Paul Sparta, chairman and CEO of Plateau, says that the Singapore Airlines contract will help it gain even more visibility among companies looking to deploy training systems globally, especially in Asia. The company has grown 321 percent since 2001 and recently made the Inc. 500 list of the fastest growing private companies in the U.S.
