D. Stephen Elliott,
executive director of the Council for America’s
First Freedom in Richmond, has become president of the
Farmers’ Museum and the New York State Historical
Association in Cooperstown, N.Y. A photo of Elliott
was featured in a story about the use of historic tax
credits in the July
issue. Elliott’s departure was announced after
the issue went to press.
Smithfield Foods plans
to spend $800 million in Romania during the next five
years in an effort to become that nation’s largest
pork supplier. Smithfield entered Romania in 2004 with
the acquisition of pork processor Comtim Group SRL.
Smithfield’s Eastern European strategy was explored
in the November
issue.
ChildrenFirst, a
provider of employee-sponsored backup child care, is
coming to Richmond. Law firm Hunton and Williams LLP
has signed on as its first Richmond area client. The
Boston-based company operates 33 backup child-care centers
in 17 cities in the U.S. and Canada, including a center
at Tysons Corner in McLean. The prospect of a second
center in Richmond was reported in February’s
quarterly workplace section. |
