FoodTech International Inc. of New Haven, Conn., a manufacturer of refrigerated vegetarian and soy foods, plans to open a food processing facility in Greensville County Industrial Park. The $4.5 million investment is expected to create 80 jobs while producing the Veggie Patch line of veggie burgers, meatballs and other products. Virginia competed with Connecticut, Maryland, Georgia and Florida for the project. (Press release, 9/28/04)

Tredegar Corp., a Richmond-based manufacturer of plastic films and aluminum extrusions, plans to move the research and development and technical centers of its Tredegar Film Products subsidiary from Terre Haute, Ind., and Lake Zurich, Ill., to Richmond. Greater efficiency is expected to result from a more centralized operation. Approximately 40 workers will be based in the new Richmond center, some of whom are expected to be transfers from the old facilities. The Terre Haute technical facility will operate with lower staffing, while operations in Lake Zurich will be closed. (PRNewswire, 9/13/04)
