Boeing Integrated Defense Systems of St. Louis opened a field office in Norfolk to support naval and other client services in Virginia, Rhode Island and Europe. (Press release)

StarTek, a Denver-based business services outsourcing company, chose Lynchburg as the site for a new call center. The $5.5 million investment will create 542 jobs over the next year. (Press release)

Direct Holdings Worldwide announced plans to move its recently purchased Time-Life book and video retail business to Virginia Beach. The operation will share ordering and distribution facilities with catalog retailer Lillian Vernon, another recent Direct Holdings acquisition. The deal will bring 200 jobs to Virginia Beach.
