Dan
River, a textile company headquartered in Danville,
filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. The
company cited debt burdens and changing economic
conditions in the textile industry. (Danville

Dominion Generation, a unit
of Richmond’s Dominion Resources, leads
a consortium of companies that has applied to
the U.S. Department of Engery for cost-sharing
money to help pay for a construction and operating
license for a third nuclear power reactor at
Dominion Virginia Power’s North Anna plant

Planters Bank & Trust Company
of Staunton and Virginia Heartland Bank of Fredericksburg,
entered into agreements with the Federal Reserve
Bank of Richmond to enhance compliance with
federal regulations to deter money laundering.
