America Online, a Herndon-based
Internet services provider, sold its Japanese
subsidiary AOL Japan to eAccess, a Japanese Internet
provider, for $18.3 million in a cash transaction.
Though AOL will no longer have operations in Japan,
eAccess will continue to market services there
