Defense Contractor MZM Inc. Moving Operations
to Martinsville
MZM Inc. has selected a shell building in the city of
Martinsville for a database and information technology
operation. The project will create 150 new jobs over
three years, with an average annual salary more than
double Martinsville’s prevailing wages.
The company’s Martinsville project
will help it complete a database and information technology
contract for the U.S. Army National Ground Intelligence
Center in Charlot-tesville. This new facility will conduct
research and build databases on foreign-made products
and services that the federal government purchases.
All of the positions will require a security clearance.
MZM Inc. is a Washington, D.C.-based
company providing information technology services to
the federal defense and intelligence community. Since
its founding in 1993, MZM has been providing technology
solutions to a range of government and private sector
entities.
Several regional economic groups are
backing the project. The Martinsville-Henry County Chamber’s
Partnership for Economic Growth put up $127,000, and
the Virginia Tobacco Indemnification and Community Revitalization
Commission provided $250,000. The Governor’s Opportunity
Fund also contributed $250,000.
