First Potomac Realty Trust, a Bethesda, Md.-based real estate investment trust, purchased Virginia Center in Glen Allen from Principal Life Insurance Company for $9.5 million. A single-story flex property, it totals 119,672 square feet and is 63% leased. (Business Wire)

Hargrove, Brockwell & Associates, an architecture, engineering and interior design firm, signed a lease for 16,624 square feet of office space at One Columbus Center in Virginia Beach. (Press release)

Liberty Property Trust, a Malvern, Pa.-based real estate company, purchased the Airport Building Center, a 65,000-square-foot flex building in Virginia Beach. The facility is 100% leased. The sale was part of a $60 million investment in nine properties in the Mid-Atlantic region. (PRNewswire)

Penzance Properties, a private investor in the Washington, D.C. area, purchased a five-story Class A office building on Pender Drive in Fairfax from Archon Group for $14.4 million The facility totals 99,162 rentable square feet and is 94% leased. (Press release)
