James F. Garrett, president
and CEO of SENTEL Corp., an Alexandria systems
engineering company, was selected as an inductee
into the National Black College Alumni Hall of
Fame. Garrett is an alumnus of North Carolina

The Jefferson Hotel in
Richmond and The Inn at Little Washington, were
the only Virginia hotels to earn a five-diamond
rating from the American Automobile Association
in its annual travel industry review. Nationwide,
81 other hotels earned AAA’s five-diamond

MicroStrategy, a software
firm based in McLean, won two readership awards
from DM Review, a specialty publication serving
the business intelligence market, in a study
of DM Review’s readers to determine the
top technology companies in the business intelligence
field. MircroStrategy was the only firm to win

Virginia Tech’s
Apple-based supercomputer, X, ranked No. 3 among
the world’s supercomputers in survey results
released at the SuperComputing 2003 conference
held in Phoenix. X, built as a cluster of 1,100
Power Mac G5 units, can potentially handle 17
