AES, a power company based
in Arlington County, with operations in 28 countries,
announced plans for expansion of its corporate
headquarters. Through a $5 million investment,
115 jobs will be created. Virginia competed with
Washington, D.C. and Maryland for the investment.

American Eagle, a Fort
Worth, Texas, regional airline, plans to offer
nonstop service from Richmond International
Airport to Miami. The carrier currently offers
service from Richmond to Boston, as well as
American hubs in Chicago and Dallas/Fort Worth.

Centra Health, a health
services provider, announced plans for two major
expansions in Lynchburg: A $21 million cancer
center, and a $60 million project for a five-story,
108-bed patient care center specializing in

a real estate firm based on the Eastern Shore,
launched a commercial real estate division providing
a full range of commercial real estate services

Dominion, a Richmond
power company, received permission from the
Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, for two
natural gas transmission projects: A $78 million
project to increase pipeline and storage capacity
to serve the Mid-Atlantic area; and a $43.5
million project to allow transmission both east
and west through the Dominion Cove Point pipeline.

US Airways, an Arlington-based
airline, plans to resume service from Pittsburgh
to London, beginning May 1; and also will begin
nonstop flights from Asheville, N.C. to New

Wachovia Securities,
a brokerage and securities firm in Richmond,
plans to expand its headquarters operations,
creating more than 1,000 jobs in Richmond and
Henrico County through a $8.3 million investment.
