Costs delay Eli Lilly plant
Virginia Business
August 2004
Citing
higher-than-expected costs, Eli Lilly and Co. recently
announced that it would delay its two-year-old plan
to build an insulin-producing plant in Prince William
County. The pharmaceutical giant, based in Indianapolis,
planned to start construction this summer on a 60,000-square-foot
facility just west of Manassas. Despite the setback,
a company spokesperson said that a design review was
in the works and the $425 million project, expected
to eventually employ 700 people, will likely go forward.
