US Airways, an airline headquartered in Arlington, announced plans to open new routes and add flights to the Caribbean from New York’s LaGuardia Airport in June. The company also will begin nonstop service between Orlando, Fla. and Bermuda. (02/25/04, PRNewswire)

Kollmorgen, a manufacturer of motion control products and systems, plans to invest $2.85 million in a customer support center, creating 71 jobs. The company employs about 700 people at engineering and assembling facilities in Radford. (02/20/04, The Roanoke Times)

Volvo Trucks North America, announced plans to add a second shift at its Dublin plant where the company produces Volvo and Mack trucks. This is the first time a new shift has been added since a slump in 2000 led to the layoffs of 900 workers. About 2,200 people are employed at the plant. (02/20/04, The Roanoke Times)

Amerigroup, a Virginia Beach-based provider of managed care services to welfare recipients and children lacking traditional health insurance, said it will expand its program in Texas to the Austin market and may launch managed care networks in South Carolina and Georgia. H.P. Hood of Chelsea, Mass. will expand its Frederick County plant where it produces extended-shelf-life milk sold mainly in New England. The company’s $42.8 million expansion, its second in two years at the Virginia facility, will create 65 jobs. (01/28/2004, The Winchester Star)

Celanese Acetate announced plans to expand its R&D facility in Narrows, creating 55 jobs. The Narrows operation employs 1,000 persons, and is the company’s only site where all three of its acetate products are made for apparel, home fashions and industrial use. (01/27/2004, Press release)

Soza Associates, an Annadale-based accounting firm, opened a Richmond office. The firm specializes in services for small-to mid-sized companies, not-for-profit groups, medical and law practices and individuals. (01/13/2004, Press release)
