The Real Estate and Land Development Program at VCU’s School of Business has developed a national reputation for the high quality of its educational offerings, faculty, programs, and service to the real estate profession. The program offers an undergraduate major, a post-baccalaureate certificate, a graduate certificate, and two concentrations at the graduate level.

“While many other colleges and universities offer a few real estate classes, we have developed a complete and in-depth real estate program,” says Robert Taylor, director of VCU’s Real Estate Center. “Our program is gaining a national reputation for excellence, and our graduates are reaping the rewards in the job market.”

Lee Warfield, Executive Vice President of Thalhimer Commercial Real Estate, says his company has used VCU interns and likes to hire graduates whenever possible. "When I see VCU on someone's resume, it gives me a certain comfort level because I know they come with a strong foundation in real estate. Having a degree from such a well-regarded program definitely adds to their credentials."

The program’s success can be credited to a combination of excellent teachers and scholars, support from the real estate community, and a versatile and well-rounded curriculum, says Taylor. “The focus is on preparing students for any part of the industry they choose. Our program gives students skills in every aspect of the business, from home sales to residential and commercial development, commercial sales and leasing, property management, corporate real estate, residential and commercial financing, and appraisal, to name a few."
