Jacquelyn S. Fetrow has been named provost and vice president for academic affairs at the University of Richmond.

Her appointment is effective July 1.

Since 2009, Fetrow has been dean of Wake Forest College and Reynolds Professor of Computational Biophysics at Wake Forest University.

As dean, she has overseen the liberal arts core of the university, a college of about 4,800 students, 400 faculty, 25 academic departments and many interdisciplinary programs. She also oversees Wake Forest’s summer school.

During her tenure at Wake Forest, Fetrow established the Office of Academic Advising, fostered development of programs to support first-generation and at-risk students, and oversaw development of the Undergraduate Research and Creative Activities Center.
At Richmond, Fetrow also will be a professor of chemistry in addition to her administrative duties.
