Sentara announces leadership changes

Norfolk-based Sentara Healthcare has announced these appointments.
Mary L. Blunt, corporate vice president and president of Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, has been named corporate vice president, Peninsula.
In this expanded role, she assumes regional leadership for the Peninsula region hospitals and their affiliated outpatient facilities, including Sentara CarePlex Hospital and Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center. She will also retain organizational leadership for Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, the health system’s 525-bed tertiary care facility.
Michael Gentry, corporate vice president Southside, retains regional leadership for Sentara’s South Hampton Roads hospitals and their affiliated outpatient facilities, including Sentara Leigh Hospital, Sentara Princess Anne Hospital, and Virginia Beach General Hospital, as well as Sentara Life Care. As part of his broadened responsibilities, Gentry assumes leadership for Sentara Obici Hospital and Sentara Enterprises.
Kurt Hofelich, has been named president of Sentara Norfolk General Hospital and will be responsible for the day-to-day hospital operations. He was president of Sentara Obici Hospital.
Dr. Steven Julian, vice president of medical affairs at Sentara Obici Hospital, has been named the hospital’s interim president.
Dr. Thomas Thames, vice president of medical affairs at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital, has been named interim president there.
Sentara is recruiting to fill the vacant president positions.
