The Rappaport Cos. has promoted Henry Fonvielle to president. In making the announcement Monday, Gary Rappaport, the company’s founder and CEO, said the firm had grown dramatically since bringing Fonvielle on as an executive vice president six years ago. “As a result, we made the decision to expand his role in the executive team,” said Rappaport.
Under Fonvielle’s leadership, The Rappaport Cos. increased its leasing and management portfolio from 35 to 132 properties. Since 2006, an additional 45 employees have joined the firm, boosting staff from 55 to 100 people. The McLean-based Rappaport Cos. also has increased services, adding brokerage, construction management, receivership and consulting.
Today, it has a leasing and management portfolio of about 11 million square feet of retail space in shopping centers and mixed-use buildings. It provides leasing, tenant representation, management and development services for shopping centers and ground-floor retail in mixed-use properties throughout Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia.
As president, Fonvielle will oversee leasing of shopping centers and third-party brokerage, which includes landlord and tenant representation. He also will be involved with design and construction of new shopping centers, expansions and renovations of existing centers, as well as planning of mixed-use projects.
Before joining Rappaport, Fonvielle worked at Vornado/ Charles E. Smith Commercial Realty as senior vice president and head of the Retail Division.
