McLean-based Gannett has named Randy Kilgore president of national sales, starting June 23.

In his new role, Kilgore will be responsible for growing Gannett’s national advertising revenue. He will oversee sales for USA TODAY, Gannett Digital and U.S. Community Publishing.

Kilgore was chief revenue officer for New York-based Tremor Video, an advertising technology company, where he developed sales strategy, product marketing, category development, mobile development and agency relations. According to Gannett, he built the company's sales team from the ground up and grew sales from under $1 million in 2006 to $128 million for 2013.

Before that, he spent more than 16 years at Dow Jones & Co., most recently serving as senior vice president of advertising.

Kilgore will be based in New York City and report to Maryam Banikarim, Gannett's senior vice president and chief marketing officer.

Gannett is an international media and marketing company with broadcast, digital, mobile and publishing assets.
