Gannett names new director

Gannett Co. Inc. has named Susan Ness, a former commissioner of the Federal Communications Commission, to its board of directors.
Ness leads Susan Ness Strategies, a communications policy consulting firm that she founded in 2002.
She served as a commissioner with the FCC from 1994 to 2001.
She also was the founding president and CEO of GreenStone Media LLC from 2005 to 2007. Greenstone produced syndicated talk programs targeted for women.
“Susan has been a strong voice for consumers and understands the enormous value technology brings to people’s lives,” Gannett President and CEO Gracia Martore said in a statement. “She’ll be a great asset to the board and to Gannett as we continue to redefine our company and its place within the media industry.”
