Capital One Financial Corp., of McLean, will hire 3,600 new employees by the end of the year. The positions include bankers, analysts and call-center employees. The move comes in response to major acquisitions earlier in the year of credit-card and online banking businesses. (Washington Business Journal)

General Dynamics C4 Systems Inc., of Falls Church, will provide computer hardware and software assistance to the Army under a five-year contract worth up to $3.7 billion. Northrop Grumman Corp., a Falls Church defense contractor, will eliminate 500 jobs in its aerospace division by the end of the year.
