Executive director to leave Virginia Biotechnology Association

Virginia Biotechnology Association Executive Director Mark A. Herzog will leave his position June 1 after leading the organization for 12 years.
Herzog will be joining Health Diagnostic Laboratory Inc. as senior vice president, corporate and governmental affairs.
“Mark has been a tremendous advocate for the biotechnology and medical device industry in Virginia,” Virginia Bio Chairman Thomas Thorpe said in a statement. “He leaves in place an outstanding organization and professional staff that will continue their remarkable service to our members and represent well the interests of Virginia’s life science industry.”
Herzog served as an officer and co-founder of the Virginia Bioscience Foundation, the Virginia Council on Advanced Technology Skills and the Mid-Atlantic Bio Coalition during his tenure.
The board of directors of Virginia Bio is working to find a successor.
