USS Monitor Center adds to rich historic sites
Newport News offers a fun and rewarding pre- and post-meeting experience. Visitors can get up close and personal with the animals at the Virginia Living Museum, while art lovers will find changing art exhibits at the Peninsula Fine Arts Center. History enthusiasts can explore our nation’s past and present at the U.S. Army Transportation Museum and the Virginia War Museum or step back in time at four historic homes — Endview Plantation, the James A. Fields House, Lee Hall Mansion and The Newsome House Museum & Cultural Center.

Lovers of all things maritime will not want to miss The Mariners’ Museum and the new USS Monitor Center, the only place in the world where you can walk the deck of a full-scale replica of this iconic ironclad. There’s also a full schedule of performing arts events at the Ferguson Center for the Arts, plus dozens of locally owned restaurants and plenty of shopping opportunities.
