Meet among Charlottesville’s
historic gems
Charlottesville offers a tranquil setting to hold a
meeting among some of the state’s historic treasures.
Visitors get a true sense of history when walking in
Thomas Jefferson’s footsteps at his Monticello
home or through his prized “Academical Village”
at the University of Virginia. Other unique historical
experiences include James Monroe’s Ash Lawn Highland,
Historic Court Square and the Michie Tavern, built in
1784.
Nestled in the beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains,
the Charlottesville area offers outdoor adventures,
abundant shopping and dining and wine tasting in a renowned
wine region. Its abundance of entertainment is just
one of the reasons Money magazine named Charlottesville
the No. 1 small city in the South.
The region gives meeting planners a chance to meet
away from everyday chaos, but it is convenient to Virginia’s
major cities. It is an hour’s drive from Richmond
and just two hours from Washington, D.C.

The Boar’s Head Inn offers guests a luxurious
stay in a charming inn setting among 573 acres of Virginia
countryside. The hotel offers four-diamond dining, a
lavish spa, children’s programs, a state-of-the-art
sports club, tennis and a challenging golf course with
the scenery of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Birdwood Golf
Course is consistently labeled a “must play”
course by Washington Golf Monthly and the inn’s
tennis courts are also widely acclaimed.
The inn currently has 12 rooms in 13,000 square feet
of meeting space available. But the inn’s meeting
capacity will more than double next spring with the
opening of the elegant and state-of-the-art Meeting
Pavilion. The $10 million facility will add 17,000 square
feet of meeting space to the inn, offering the latest
in technology but wrapped in the warmth, hospitality
and service the inn is known for.
The pavilion will include a 5,500-square-foot ballroom,
which will become the largest in Charlottesville. The
new space will include 11 function rooms, a large and
well-appointed pre-function area and a full kitchen.
